DURKA...DURKA...DURKA...
I was on detail the other day with four egyptians and one pakistani.. I realized that even though they didn't speak the same language they could still communicate.. People are people.. they laugh, they cry.. they communicate the same needs and desires in the same way that anyone could understand without words.. but to make things better and more clear we use words to get things exact and faster. I watched as they performed their dutys and worked hard to get things done. They were smart people.. they came up with things I had never thought of but to them was part of their culture. Like for instance patching a hose with mud from the ground! They would ride around in backhoes and put 6 to 8 people in them, when normally they could only fit about 3 or four in them.. it was very funny.

People are people.. The typical worker senario.. no matter what culture...
Worker 1. Works hard and is flexible in the way they do things, feels stupid when their ideas are threatened by the stubborn worker. But works hard

Worker 2. Works hard till the heat gets hot.. than starts to slack off.. finds other things to do to pass the time and is impatient.. tends to daydream and than work here and there.. can't wait for lunch.

Worker 3. Works hard, likes to show off in front of the female and would work so hard in front of the female to impress them.. constantly trying to get the females attention until the boss catches them and sends them back to work.

Worker 4. The boss, constantly orders people around, is stubborn in their beliefs, tends to want things to be done a certain way even if it doesn't work out it must be done that way and no other way. Must have the authority and must be in charge.

Worker 5. There at the beginning of the job, and there at the end of the job, but somehow tends to get lost in between somewhere and when they are there they are talking up a storm and pretending that they are working but when they are gone you assume that they are gone to get supply's so you don't really notice where or really care where they are, until they get you in trouble.

So when people come up to talk to you a few workers stop and listen and try to immitate the way they think your language is supposed to be said but in the long run you just here them asking your name, repeating what you say and shaking their heads as if to say yes and no, but really they don't understand and they sound like a bunch of kindergarteners and you feel like your a babysitter cause they start throwing rocks at each other and trying to wander off or lay down and sleep on the job. Its also really funny to see how many people they can pack onto a backhoe, usually eight people where we would only put three. Sometimes they are hanging on to the edge of it and riding down the road.

I went to eat the food and it was pretty good, after being out in the sun for so long.. and standing up, constantly moving and constantly on guard it feels so nice to relax for a few minutes!
